Living Fully Free in Christ: Embracing the Identity God Gave You
If the enemy can’t take your salvation, he’ll settle for taking your identity. He’ll let you go to church, serve, even lead — as long as you keep living like a prisoner who’s already been pardoned. As we close out Freedom Month on the podcast, we’re planting a flag on this truth: you are who GOD says you are, and it’s time to live like it.
Freedom Is Your Position, Not Your Performance
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery” (Galatians 5:1, NIV). Read that again — Christ didn’t set you free so you could tiptoe around hoping you don’t mess it up. Freedom isn’t a reward you earn with a quiet time streak. It’s a position you were given at the cross. Jesus said, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36, NIV). Free indeed — not free-ish, not free on your good days. Free.
The Old Labels Don’t Get a Vote
Anxious. Failure. Too much. Not enough. Divorced. Addict. Dropout. Whatever the label — maybe someone else stuck it on you, maybe you wrote it yourself — hear this: “if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV). In Christ, you are chosen, royal, and His: “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession” (1 Peter 2:9, NIV). The old labels can describe your history, but they don’t get to define your identity. Only the One who made you gets that job.
You Are God’s Masterpiece — With a Purpose
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10, NIV). Handiwork — some translations say masterpiece. You are not an accident, an afterthought, or a rough draft. And notice: identity comes before assignment. God doesn’t wait for you to do good works to love you; He loved you first and prepared the works to walk in. That order changes everything about how you serve, parent, work, and show up.
Walking It Out Daily
Living fully free is a daily practice, not a one-time revelation. Start your morning by declaring who you are before the world tells you who you’re not: I am forgiven. I am chosen. I am free. Catch the old labels mid-sentence and replace them with Scripture — out loud, because faith comes by hearing. Surround yourself with people who remind you of your identity, not your history. And when you stumble — because you will — run TO the Father, not from Him. That’s what free people do.

Write down the one label you’ve been living under that God never gave you. Cross it out. Above it, write what He actually says — pick one of the verses from this post and make it yours this week. Tape it to your mirror. Say it every morning until your heart catches up with the truth.
Friend, you are a daughter of the King, fully known, fully loved, and fully free. This is the identity God gave you. Wear it.
